Detailed look at the Casita process

My experience with Boxabl for a Casita was mostly positive. The initial ordering process involved a waitlist, which was expected given demand. Communication about my position on the list was regular but not overly frequent. Delivery took about 7 days to reach my site in Arizona after it shipped, which was within their estimated window. The quality of the construction, particularly the steel frame and concrete panels, seems robust. The kitchen module and bathroom module are well-integrated and feel sturdy. I did have a question about the utility hookups, and their support team was responsive within a day, providing clear guidance. It's definitely a modern prefab home, and while customization options felt a bit limited for the standard model, the core unit itself is impressive. It's clear they focus on rapid deployment and efficiency.

Pretty cool foldable house

So, I finally got around to checking out Boxabl. I had heard about the Casita from a friend and was curious. The process of getting on the waitlist was straightforward, and they kept me updated. It's a pretty cool concept, how it all folds up. I'm excited to see it in person eventually. The whole experience felt easy enough.

Good value for a Casita

I was looking for an affordable housing option and the Boxabl Casita caught my eye. The reservation credit made the initial step feel more accessible. It was a fair price for what you get, especially with the energy efficiency claims. Felt like a solid investment overall, no hidden fees that surprised me.

thinking about getting one of these casitas for an ADU. what's the deal with customization? can I change the layout inside?

R Ryan White 1 month ago
From what I gather, the Casita itself is pretty standard. You can't like, move walls around. But you can stack them or combine units for more space.

They're not super customizable inside, it's more about the core unit being set. I think they might have options for finishes or something minor, but not structural changes.

hey, anyone know if boxabl is actually legit? like, it almost seems too good to be true with the folding house thing.

R Rachel Lopez 1 month ago
Yeah, totally legit. They've been around for a bit and have a factory in Vegas. Seen some pics of them being delivered.

They're real! I follow them on insta, they show a lot of the manufacturing process and even setup videos. Not some fly-by-night thing.

does boxabl offer any discounts? like for military or anything? trying to see if i can save a few bucks.

J James Nelson 1 week ago
I heard they do have a military discount, I'd check their site or contact them directly. Also sometimes waitlist incentives pop up.

They don't do regular promo codes, but referral credits are a thing. And yeah, military and first responder discounts have been mentioned before, not sure how to get them though.

how long does it take to actually get one of these once you've ordered it? is the waitlist crazy long?

A Amanda Phillips 1 month ago
The waitlist can be pretty long, depends on demand and production. I think it was like months, maybe even a year+ for some people, but it fluctuates.

Yeah, don't expect it next week. They're ramping up production but there's a huge backlog. Best to get on the list sooner rather than later.

anyone compare Boxabl to Abodu or Mighty Buildings? trying to figure out which one is best for an ADU in my backyard.

J Jason N. 3 days ago
Boxabl is definitely more about the 'foldable' and quick setup. Abodu is more traditional prefab, often a bit pricier. Mighty Buildings uses 3D printing which is cool but might have different permitting challenges.

I looked into Abodu too. Boxabl seems to have a more standardized product which might make permitting easier in some areas, but Abodu has more design variety. Depends on what you're prioritizing.

what about financing options for a boxabl? do they have their own or do I have to get a regular loan?

D Donna Mitchell 2 weeks ago
I think you need to sort out your own financing. They don't offer it directly, you'd be looking at a construction loan or personal loan probably.

Yeah, pretty sure it's on you to get a loan from a bank or lender. They're more focused on manufacturing the unit itself.
